FAN TAP tic,–if I may say so myself…

My ab fab son turned 35 last May and as part of his pressie some mamma made.

I knew I had seen some tuts for wool felt and went looking for them.

In my chaotic creative mess I had the proper felt (etsy) and some leather remnants ( etsy as well ).

I am really working rapidly through my value pack of TAP (..tissues…) but I knew I just had to use some more. After making an image in Adobe Elements I turned on my sewing machine and fired up the iron and these are the results:

bassens iphone cover

An Iphone cover with two front pockets, tutorial: POPPYTALK

passportbassen

A passport cover with the universe and Yoda quote, tutorial: leonie’s Creations

My take on it meant no tulip but full TAP cover + some more inside.

Hopefully he will be using this – if not for his passport then perhaps for a note book?

I’ll be using these tutorials for more stuff, – ideas a plenty! Smilefjes med åpen munn

Baby blanket frenzy…

I’m supposed to finish up my UFOs, – and I do have a lot of them, but returning from a trip I just couldn’t resist a sudden urge to make baby blankets from some of my awesome fabrics.

And thinking about it a UFO can also be a plan you have had

but never came around to, – right?

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Apart from reducing stash and hopefully increasing cash I will try out the different methods one can use!

The first one being making a blanket by way of sewing right sides together and then quilt “after the fact”. This of course meant a lot of pinning…

gult babyteppe

All four of the first blankets are quilted in straight lines by following seams and/or masking tape. I do have more plans as this project moves along. Smilefjes som blunker

With this one I’ll test the tutorial with fleece binding from

On this one I’ll use the tutorial on mitered self-binding from

And on this one the method from my Singer Book on Machine Quilting.

Testing, testing! Transfer Artist Paper

Ever since I learned about this breed of transfer I wanted to test it out.

For xmas I finally bought and used it and it is indeed something else!

The colors are very well transferred from TAP to fabric and the resulting image can be ironed over with no problem whatsoever! As the sheets are translucent you can only transfer to white or very light surfaces. Here are some examples:

cuffs etc

The fabric here was a very light tan so turned out a very pretty hide look.

The images were written with black and white except the traditional japanese art where what was white now is tan. Still loved it!

aprontext

Here the labels were ironed over white cotton. Very crisp!

gifts

Again over light tan, – a bookmark and another cuff.

My second to youngest grandson received colored pencils, an electric pencil sharpener and lots of paper for his birthday in March so I decided to make him an art tote. Decorated with a saying and some words in fun fonts I printed an image out for him to go crazy on! This would be the front image of the tote.

We first tested the quite soft colored pencils but it turned out they scratched…

So far in sewing, – will be quilted and finished during next week.

My bad,–sorry! But despite no blogging….

….I have been sewing and a lot of other stuff!

Today I made a pincushion for my wrist finally! Found a super tut at

Tea Rose Home

She has several awesome tuts so check it out! This is mine

wrist pin cushion

As you can tell ( if you checked the link ) I deviated some because 1) I didn’t have fusible fleece 2) I didn’t have a silk flower and 3) my gluegun is one of many items stored somewhere after we had guests for Easter…

However that didn’t stop me: I attached some thin wadding with decorative seams, replaced the flower with lace and handsewing really isn’t that bad!

Bargain XXL prints,–blueprint to the rescue!

Loving playing around with image editing and my wee cherished grandchildren leads up to a desire of seeing results enlarged, – and this is SO possible at your nearest copyshop: ask for files printed in blueprint!
The files have to be in black and white, excellent resolution and at least at “my” place they prefer PDF. If this is met they can make BIG copies, – and very reasonably prized as well: 120cmX84cm for less than 6 dollars/3 pounds!

You WILL understand that I went a bit wild…

Mine are resp 84cmX84cm and the before mentioned 120X84!

Most e-mail-suppliers have a limitation on the size of files sent, – filemail offers free upload for LARGE files etc for the man in the street

Karin Boye’s poem translated:

Of Course It Hurts

Of course it hurts when buds burst.
Otherwise why would spring hesitate?
Why would all our fervent longing
be bound in the frozen bitter haze?
The bud was the casing all winter.
What is this new thing, which consumes and bursts?
Of course it hurts when buds burst,
pain for that which grows
and for that which envelops.

Of course it is hard when drops fall.
Trembling with fear they hang heavily,
clammer on the branch, swell and slide -
the weight pulls them down, how they cling.
Hard to be uncertain, afraid and divided,
hard to feel the deep pulling and calling,
yet sit there and just quiver -
hard to want to stay
and to want to fall.

Then, at the point of agony and when all is beyond help,
the tree's buds burst as if in jubilation,
then, when fear no longer exists,
the branch's drops tumble in a shimmer,
forgetting that they were afraid of the new,
forgetting that they were fearful of the journey -
feeling for a second their greatest security,
resting in the trust
that creates the world.

Harald Sverdrup's poem tentatively translated:

The Dandelion’s Prayer

Blow on me,children!

Catch my rising stars

and gaze at my yellow sun

- burning in the sky of green grass-

with all the wondering eyes.

Let the little children come to me,

for they do not know what weeds are.

Fineste Marcus i hele universet

Beppe Wolgers/Olle Adolphson song

Roughly translated:

Children are a people, and they live in a strange land. This land is a rain and a puddle.

Over the puddle the boys’ boats go sometimes, and they glide so nicely even without a keel.

There walks a girl who collects rocks. She has a million for herself.

The King of Trees sits quietly among the branches of the Tree King’s throne.

There walks a boy who laughs at the snow.

There walks a girl who made an island out of fifteen pillows.

There walks a boy - and everything he touches turns into ice cream.

All of them are children, and they belong to the mysterious people.

Children are a people, and they live in a strange land. This land is a meadow and an attic.

There a boy may find a new Samarkand, and ride away on a swinging gate.

There walks a girl who sings about fir cones. She owns two herself.

There by a wooden fence stands a boy who scribbles that the world is blue.

There walks a boy who turned into an Indian.

There, there walks the King of Shades around town, he is stalking thieves.

There - a girl found a funny grimace that she is trying on.

All of them are children, and they belong to the mysterious people.

Children are a people and they live in a strange land. This land is a back yard and a shed.

There, the dangerous train ambush happens sometimes, on beautiful evenings when the moon is yellow.

There walks a boy who is guessing on cars; he always wins.

The songs of birds in their many variations are magical jokes.

There, a worthless thing turns into a treasure.

There, beds turn into boats one night and go off to the moon.

There are kingdoms that none of us can take away from them.

All of them are children, and they belong to the mysterious people.
